I am in DC for the week babysitting my grand nephew along with my sister his MiMi.
His parents are on their way to Machu Picchu with his older sibs and it takes two old ladies to keep an eye on ONE 2.5 year old!!
While I am here away from my sewing machine I am starting a project for older brother Ty, aka Chickin man.
TY is off to Penn State in the fall and I am going to work on getting his t-shirt quilt ready for quilting.
Take a peek with me on the first step in the process.
I cut out each of at least 35 t-shirts using my big 15″ ruler and 60mm rotary blade. It takes 5 across and 7 down 15″ squares for a twin quilt.
I cut out around any interesting designs on the front and back and make sure I cut both if they are fun. Also sometimes you need a blank one to fill in the color or something when you get all done and start arranging them for the finally block placement so it’s a good idea to save those blank backs in case you need them later.
I cut them out slightly larger than the 15″ because I am going to quilt each square seperately and then square them up again to exactly 15″ to sew them all together at the end.
Stay tuned to see how I do this.
Tomorrow I’ll cut out the batting pieces, maybe, I have to go get MiMi at the airport and that might exhaust me.
We’ll see, I’ll keep you posted as to my progress.
Happy Weekend though, it looks like it is going to be HOT. Are you going to start celebrating 4th of July early? Party responsibly!
