Tariffs are here

I just got this in my email from Dharma Trading. I buy a lot of my dye from them. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but Tariffs are going to start affecting the quilting industry.

It’s official, the new Tariffs are here.

10% additional tariffs on all fabrics, some clothing items and some dyes, imported from China, start Monday, 9/24.
This tariff amount increases to 25% January 1st, 2019.
There is a possibility that a new agreement or deal will be reached at some point that could undo these tariffs.
Any shipments of affected products that clear customs on or after Monday, 9/24 will be assessed an additional 10% tariff.
We’re sending you this to keep you informed of changes in the marketplace in case you missed the info in the news.

Wishing you the very best,

The Crew at Dharma Trading Co.

This will also affect the price of my product because the costs of making my hand dyed fabrics will go up. I know my base cotton price is going to go up as well. Most fabrics are made overseas.

Keep on Quilting.
