My good friend from Norway, Kjersti, made this beautiful quilt titled “Urnes”, using my blackened rainbow fabric. She received a prize for Best handwork at her local quilt show.

“The motif is from one of the oldest stave-churches in Norway, Urnes. The text is written in medieval runes: “I, K, Bjoergs and Sigurds-daughter from the Tonsberg-line made this quilt”. Didn’t sign my full name not to give myself away, just my lineage!”

Since my husband’s ancestry is Scandinavian I really enjoy this art quilt.
I wonder if I could get her to make one with my name in the border!
