Hand Stitched Collage Quilts by Laura Wasilowski

You know my buddy and booth partner Laura Wasilowski is also a Craftsy instructor.

Her class is called – Hand Stitched Collage Quilts.

it is as fabulous as she is and I know you would enjoy taking it. Laura is always so silly and fun and full of creative ideas. We are always laughing when we are together. She likes to make work play jokes and is constantly cracking us up.

I thought you would enjoy hearing Laura talk about herself so here are few questions I asked her and her responses. I hope you check out her class on Craftsy.

What is your artistic style:

The best words to describe my style are whimsical, bright, narrative, cartoon-like and stylized pictorial. My quilts are like a playground for me. I never get tired of tinkering with fabric.

Have you changed your style from when you first started making quilts?

Oh, yeah! My first quilt was made at age 16 from old wool skirts. (We had just moved to Minnesota.)  It was pieced together in curves and an old woven blanket became the batting layer. The quilt was bound with a wool binding and tied the layers together with yarn. It was like sleeping under a lead blanket. (Did I mention we had just moved to Minnesota?)

When I discovered fusing, I left piecing behind and moved onto making pictorial wall art. I love every minute of it!!!

Laura’s class is fun! And Craftsy is a wonderful online class set up.
Due to this class (OK, I also checked out a Youtube…) I have finally learned to do a French Knot and the outline stitch! Loved the fusing, of course.

I agree with you. I can just tell that Laura is fun by the way she writes. I have taken her class and am hooked on fusing…fusible web is my new best friend! I imagine that you two together are big trouble…
