Level: Beginner to Advanced—Two days—
Strip - To cut or tear into strips
To remove all excess detail from; reduce to essentials. To dismantle.
Creating our own designs. How do we start to transform our own ideas in to pattern and design.
Many traditional quilts start with a simple block and to achieve pattern, repeat it over and over again.
To achieve a contemporary design that is unique to ourselves we can use the same idea, pick a simple
pattern but by varying it in size and shape and adding in filler units we will create something unique and
new.
To help us achieve a more fluid feel to our designs we will cut
our
blocks free form without using a ruler. This will give our pieces
movement and energy. We will use our ruler to square up in the end.
