Woodland Secrets – Pillow case finish
Did you ever want to finish your quilts without a binding?
Well I have many times done just that!!
I have a new article in the March issue of American Quilter Magazine.
You can read all about finishing even large quilts with a pillow case binding.
The Quilt in the article is almost 50″ square, but I have done quilts as large as 60″ x 70″. I would however caution you to practice this first before tackling a large quilt.
I hope you enjoy reading about this process.
Happy Quilting

I don’t think that I’ll ever tire of looking at this quilt. It’s so gorgeous!
Thanks me too!
Yes, I have done a non-binding. Used satin stitch to go around a piece I made following tips in Stupendous Stitching. I’ve been finishing a series depicting four seasons (small separate pieces) with a wide ribbon border. Love trying these alternate bindings.
Your hand dyes emphasize the look of your beautiful quilt.I assume you pillow case first and then quilt?
Yes you pillow case first and then quilt. I also make sure that I leave about 1/2″ to 1/4″ around the edge unquilted. It gives the quilt the look of a binding.
OMG – this is GORGEOUS!!! Congrats!!!
